2020 Season
2020 was Year one of the COVID pandemic and the season only got off to a spluttering start in the summer and many events were cancelled at the last minute or just never happened. So, with the Force still being worked on I did a couple of events in the Caterham while Chris's Jones and Price finally got to run the Force at Blyton at the end of the year while we were away.

The Year:

July: Our first event of the year was to be the Dick Mayo Sprint at Combe and we had confidently entered in the Force following a successful dyno run and only some minor bodywork and installation items to complete. Until another oil leak from the dry sump ended these hopes and a new sump ordered from Vancouver. So it was back to the Caterham which required a service and nut & bolt check at Cougar plus some new tyres. Toyos were hard to find so the next option was to enquire about some Extremes which had become very popular in the Roadgoing classes. They only offered 195X50 in 15" and the Super Softs were on back order until someone cancelled their order for a set which was in stock in the UK so I snapped them up.

What a revelation! Soft they certainly were and following a single practice run Chris and I were both amazed at the level of grip available immediately - even at Quarry. Chris was suffering from a bad back and not quite his usual self but I was still surprised to be a little quicker and this continued on T1 and T2 but with both of us just behind Mike Smith in the Striker. Chris edged ahead by a tenth on T3 after I suffered a wardrobe malfunction (helmet)but we were still going quicker in the warm conditions. However, I put in a really good run on T4 for a PB 67.53s, just one hundredth ahead of Chris to take second in quite a big Class.

September: To Shelsley on my own in the Caterham. A good battle with a couple of Westfields and Anthony Earl's Caterham taking mty first Shelelsey win with a 34.14s.

October: With the Force finally 'ready' Chris J and Chris P entered the NSCC double header at Blyton. They were fighting gear selection problems all week-end but Chris J managed to win the 1100cc class on both days. Unfortunately it turned out that problems with the pneumatics had damaged the gearbox which finished the season and meant more winter repair work.
